A Bold Move: 79-year old champion bodybuilder competes against 40-, 50-, 60-year olds!

Amador County, CA, May 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — A career spanning nearly 50 years isn’t over yet for Amador County veteran bodybuilder and one of the original Mr. Venice Beach competitors, Arthur Peacock. Peacock, who is turning 80 this year, takes the stage with 40-, 50-, and 60-year olds this Saturday, May 9 at the Contra Costa Bodybuilding Championship, to be held in the Chabot College Performing Arts Theatre.

“There is no doubt that this is a career turning point for me. It’s what I’ve been training for my entire life, but especially the last three years. I’ll have 60-seconds to prove myself—my physique and my poses—with competitors between 40 and 69. That’s potentially almost 40 years younger than me.”

Peacock chose to compete in three classes for a couple of reasons—no 70s bracket existed, and he has every intention of continuing his legacy to inspire others who want to follow their bodybuilding dreams.

“I want people to see me and say, ‘I can do that. Look at that guy up there at 80.’ I want to inspire to the end; I’ve done it all my life. I’ve had world champions come up to me and say, ‘I remember when you stopped and spoke to me as a teenager, and now, 20 years later, I’m the number one guy. Thank you.’”

It was in 1965, as an already athletic young man in his early 30s, an avid swimmer, surfer cyclist, and hiker, that Peacock went as a spectator with his friends to his first bodybuilding competition. “I knew I wanted to do that—that I could do that.” And that he did, taking home his first trophy in the 1968 Mr. Venice Beach competition, which gave rise to a half-century career with more than 50 major titles earned.

The capital catches fire with Hunger Party Games

As London prepares to host the world premiere of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire, eager fans can get in on the action with The Robin Collective’s brilliantly bonkers Hunger Party Games. Please can you tell us a bit more about the Hunger Party Games.

Robin Fegan: In celebration of the release of the second Hunger Games film, The Robin Collective and Indeedy Incorporated are holding a unique party at the Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club on 15 November. [The singer, presenter, DJ and] our own queen of the Capitol Jess Indeedy will reap contestants to fight in this year’s Hunger Party Games.

Will the contestants be shot at with arrows and forced to forage for their own food?

RF: Not exactly. Every ticket holder’s name will be put into the reaping. Throughout the night, people will be selected to compete in murderous parlour games, and cannon blasts will salute the fallen.

In between games, the victors will be celebrated and there will be dancing. Because this is a Quarter Quell, the last game of the night will see all the victors compete one last time.

Yikes, can you give us a hint as to what the murderous party games might involve?

The Game Makers are currently busy coming up with the most devious and evil games imaginable like Musical Killing Chairs and Pass the Parcel… of death!

How should contestants dress?

They are encouraged to wear outfits representative of their district. For example, glasses without lenses for the Shoreditch district, or obnoxious red trousers for the Chelsea districts. The reaping will be random so we won’t favour any districts.

What made you decide to hold a Hunger Games-themed event?

We’re big fans of the books and Katniss’ struggle against the Capitol is very much a metaphor for our struggle against non-Hunger Games-themed events.

How would you sum up the event in 10 words?

RF: ‘May the odds be ever in your favour,’ Caesar Flickerman.

pixelhose.com announced today its second writing competition in two categories: Fiction and Non-Fiction.

The fiction category is intended as primarily a short story contest, although authors are encouraged to also submit one act plays, or other experimental compositions. The non-fiction category includes personal essays, memoires, sociopolitical opinions, and travel stories, not including reviews. All English language submissions, in any genre, are eligible. However, submissions with pornographic theme, hate speech, or those that may be classified as personal or institutional rants will not be considered.

There are three prizes in each category, $300, $150, and $50, for a total of $1000 in author prizes. The contest is fee to enter. Previously published material and simultaneous submissions are permitted.

SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) has announced a multi-year capacity deal with Eurovision, the leading distributor of premium sports and news events and department of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The deal will provide live transmission of international sporting events originating in, or broadcast to, North America, Latin America and Europe.

The capacity will be utilised for the contribution and distribution of major 2013-2014 sporting events in high-definition (HD) such as Tour de France, Formula One, European and Latin American Football, including 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. NSS-806’s tailored, high-powered hemispheric beam provides simultaneous coverage of both Europe and the Americas, with virtually complete coverage of North, Central and South America, ensuring the maximum reach throughout Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets. The satellite has a line-up of over 270 channels and reaches almost 19 million homes across Latin America.

Eurovision’s Head of Procurement, Paolo Pusterla said: “Eurovision has more than 60 years’ experience in delivering premium live content in a seamless, reliable and cost-effective way. We are delighted to extend our relationship with SES to allow us to provide our broadcast customers with the high-quality and flexible service they demand.”

Bonlays Helps the World’s Ugliest Dog Fly the British Flag

Bonlays has helped a British dog fly the flag whilst winning the ‘ugliest dog in the world’ competition in the USA. A Peterborough based Chinese Crested dog, named Mugly has been crowned as the ‘ugliest dog in the world’ winning the contest that took place in Petaluma, California wearing a very patriotic outfit.

Mugly wore a Union Jack ensemble that featured a sparkly blue, white and red hat, Union jack collar and Union Jack heart t-shirt. The Union Jack t-shirt was purchased by owner Bev Nicholson through Bonlays, one of the UK’s leading online pet retailers.

Ms Nicholson told the press: “I’m excited, I’m overwhelmed. I’m so proud to be taking him back to the UK. He’s a really sweet, sensitive dog.”

Beating 28 other canines to the title, eight year old Mugly won $1000, a photo shoot and a year’s supply of dog treats.

The moment that it was announced that the contest has been won by a Brit, there was a huge roar of clapping and cheers and Mugly’s outfit showed just how passionate he is about his country. Bonlays’ collection of Union Jack attire is proving to be very popular among dog owners with the Jubilee celebrations and the up and coming London 2012 Olympics.

Recently, Bobby Petrino has been linked with a motorcycle crash and having an affair with a 26 year old assistant who was with him on the day of the motorcycle accident. Petrino and this assistant shared supposedly thousands of text messages during their affair. Now, the latest hot topic with the former Arkansas Razorback’s Head Coach Petrino is that he was also involved with a 26-year old woman, Alison Melder, during this same time period, and they also shared over 200 racy text messages during a two month period. Ms. Alison Melder may or may not have been involved with Mr. Bobby Petrino, I have no way of confirming their exchange of over 200+ text messages, nor is it any of my personal business just how many mistresses the now Former Arkansas Football Head Coach had in his life.

With the breaking story of Alison Melder and Bobby Petrino’s alleged affair, so many have wondered who is Alison Melder and what exactly is her involvement with former Arkansas Razorback’s Football Coach Bobby Petrino? Also, surfacing in news headlines, USA Todayand Lost Lettermen, are claims made by Ms. Melder that she was the Miss Bikini-USA 2008 Bikini Model competition winner. Ms. Melder, on her modeling site, claims that she won the competition and title as Ms. Bikini-USA 08.

It is true that there is an organization called Bikini-USA with a website full of pages of gorgeous bikini models. Bikini-USA does hold various model competitions throughout the year and proudly hosts its annual competition in a unique, exotic location with various top photographers to shoot and help determine the Ms. Bikini-USA for that year. I will say this, Ms. Alison Melder, although extremely attractive, is one bikini model, I will personally never work with. She has on her personal profile as of today on (www.talentfinder.tv/alison) under Awards / Credits: listing herself as Miss Bikini-USA 08 and for that reason alone, I would never work with a model like her. I personally know that this is not true, as I have been actively involved with Bikini-USA. What I can confirm is that Bikini Model Ms. Alison Melder was in no way the winner of the Miss Bikini-USA 2008 bikini model competition. This distinct title was awarded to the ever-so-lovely Ms. Gia Allemand. You have to remember this beautiful and ever so graceful lady. She was one of Jake Pavelka’s favorites on the ABC Show “The Bachelor – On the Wings of Love” season. I had the distinct privilege of doing a phone interview with Ms. Gia Allemand and I have to say that she is just as lovely in her demeanor on a phone interview as she is on TV.  I could only hope to work with such a lovely bikini model down the road. I also had the privilege of putting together her photos and cover story for Bikini-USA (http://www.bikini-usa.com/Gia-Allemand-Model-2008.asp) while she was on “The Bachelor”.

I also asked the Owner’s of Bikini-USA, Jay and Terri Dingle, if they have ever had any knowledge of Alison Melder in any shape form or fashion. I’ve known both Jay and Terri for years, and they both told me that they just can’t ever remember this one particular model.  We are talking about two people who make it their business to personally get to know each and every bikini model who participates in any of their bikini model competitions. Bikini USA owners have been unable to identify Ms. Melder’s involvement with their organization and have been unable to contact Ms. Melder to verify her claims.

The owners of Bikini USA are perplexed by their recent influx of media contacts for interview requests and additional information regarding Alison Melder, the” self-proclaimed winner” of Miss Bikini USA 2008.

“While it is possible Ms. Melder may have won a local photo submission contest, we have no record of her winning or entering an official Bikini USA contest. We do however consider all winners of any contest with which we are associated, part of the Bikini USA family and wish Alison the best in her current and future endeavors” stated Terri Dingle, part owner of the Bikini USA franchise.

Further, no Bikini-USA Staff photographer has any knowledge of Ms. Melder, and every Miss Bikini-USA Competition has a minimum of three Bikini-USA Staff Photographers on hand to work with, photograph and provide advice to all bikini models in their competitions.  You see, not only do I participate in the web site portion of Bikini-USA, but I have also had the privilege to do model photography with them and proud to say that I have more than a few shots on record with them!

The owners of Bikini USA have also made attempts to contact Ms. Melder regarding her involvement with their organization and have been unsuccessful to date. The Bikini USA organization manages thousands of aspiring models and promotes them at events and various sponsored contests.

So I am confused and a tad dismayed that any reputable news agency is reporting that Ms. Alison Melder was the Former Miss Bikini-USA 2008 winner when all they had to do to fact check this was to either hit the Bikini-USA site ; email Jay and Terri Dingle; or that matter, give them a call.

Even furthermore, I can’t confirm or deny that Ms. Alison Melder’s claim to be Miss Motorcycle Mania 2008 is true or false. I can tell you this, after ten minutes of using a little known search engine called Google; I couldn’t locate one official Motorcycle Mania website. I did however find a number of different websites that have added city names to that verbiage but not one for the supposed Miss Motorcycle Mania claim for 2008. My Dad always told me that where there’s smoke there’s fire. It would appear to me that knowing for a fact that Miss Alison Melder’s claim to be Miss Bikini-USA 2008 as false; then I would say it’s probably safe to presume that her claim for her other Awards is the same.

As for her text messages to a married man who was riding around on a motorcycle with a young lady that wasn’t his wife, hey who am I to judge? As for USA Today and other news agencies that have the audacity to call themselves journalists, how about you guys spend at least the same 15 minutes I spent looking online to do at the very least a little fact checking first?  I’m not even a seasoned reporter and even I know that much!

The Miss World 2011 Final will be televised although the contest will have run for three whole weeks for the contestants.

The Hubble Roadshow is a distribution concept for “Saving Hubble” by director David Gaynes whose previous film, “The Keeper of the Kohn” won the Grand Jury Prize at The Vail Film Festival. Pinflap Live! – Dunn Bros Coffee House, Beltline Road Addison, Tx, Feb 26 8.30-10pm

The patrons glanced up at the musician from behind their laptop screens drawn from their cyber worlds by the unique acoustic songs which permeated the Texas coffee shop.

Their glances to the musician, their smiles and loud cheers at the end of each song indicating they were enjoying the performance. Such is the ambience of a coffee shop audience as they work on their laptops while enjoying the live music.

The singer/songwriter that night was Pinflap (Gregory Wooldridge) from Dallas Texas, who’s first CD Pinflap 2 is a current hit with international radio audiences.

By popular request, pinflap will return to Dunn Bros Coffee House, Addison Texas on Saturday night, Feb 26 to share more of his unique acoustic songs.

Wooldridge has been writing music for about 28 years. At the age of 21, he brought a used acoustic guitar and taught himself how to play. Three months later he was in a band and playing bass.

As a former member of several successful bands in the 80s and 90s, including the Cadillac Cowboys, he then went on to carve out a solo career as a singer/songwriter and an acoustic guitarist performing under the name Pinflap.
