Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) Produces Exquisite Debut EP for New Australian Indie Duo, Secret Solis, with Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams) on the Drums

Adelaide, Australia, 2017-May-18 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — Between sold out tours of Australia and Canada in 2016, Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) invited new Australian indie folk / rock duo Secret Solis to record their debut EP, “Deep Down” at River House Studios near Byron Bay. The sessions produced a five track album of indie folk / rock anthems, the tracks resonating with both Led Zeppelin’s driving acoustic rock and the ethereal ballads of Pink Floyd. Jeff’s eastern palette adds an eclectic flavour to the EP that is reminiscent of his early albums with The Tea Party, as in Splendor Solis and Edges of Twilight. Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams) joins the line up on drums providing a John Bonham / Ginger Baker style foundation for the albums songs.

When asked to describe the project Martin says “I have been waiting for years to produce a sound like this at River House Studios. Of all the production work I have done over the last 25 years, including my work with The Tea Party, Secret Solis’ EP “Deep Down” is in the top five of work that I am most proud of.”

Secret Solis was formed in 2012 when established Cairns-based singer/songwriter, Kian Eder met Cally Pysden, a pianist and singer/songwriter from Adelaide. Before meeting Cally, Kian’s music was heavily influenced by Pink Floyd, The Tea Party, A Perfect Circle, and acoustic rock cross-over artists like Ben Harper. Collaborating with Cally added a new dimension to Kian’s vision, elevating the music to new heights with her soaring ethereal vocals the likes of Enya, Dido, Sia and Amy-Lee. Enter Jeff Martin as producer and musician using production techniques straight out of Jimmy Page’s playbook, and Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams) on drums and you have a special magic happening in the mix.

Martin agreed to produce the band after hearing only a small section of their demo, “Speechless Soul” and the rest is history. Jeff plays all the heavy guitars and solos, hurdy gurdy and synths including his boutique theremin. He also lends his voice to the band’s debut single, “Sunshine”. The second single, “Are You Listening?” features Jeff playing an old school rock solo unlike many have ever heard.

Both singles are now available at secretsolis.bandcamp.com

When asked what the songs are about Kian says “The songs are based on our personal experiences but ultimately we are aiming to create relatable themes that resonate with everyone. We want this music to heal, uplift and empower people to face and overcome the many challenges of life as our favourite music has done for us.”

The Debut EP “Deep Down” will be released via bandcamp on the 16th of June, 2017.

Secret Solis are currently seeking expressions of interest from record labels, managers and booking agents to take the project to the next level.

TORONTO’S THE NURSERY RELEASE NEW EP PACKED WITH DYNAMIC AND AMBITIOUS SYNTH-POP COMPOSITIONS

Toronto, ON, Canada, 2016-Jul-28 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — Toronto’s synth-pop foursome The Nursery are back with a new EP entitled Digital Ashes. Recorded in a converted monastery in Buffalo, NY by Justin Rose (James Taylor, Lil’ Wayne), the dramatic space left its mark on the tracks.

Chartattack.com has been streaming the EP, describing the sound as “big and glossy, 3D-modelled, rose quartz and serene-colored pop music”.

The band recently released a video for the title track, Digital Ashes, exploring the paradoxical fragility of digital data through dizzying glitch sequences, post-internet visuals and virtual reality.

They will be touring this fall in support of the EP before releasing their debut full-length LP.

Michigan-Based Indie Film Tops $10,000 Kickstarter Goal in Under Two Days

Star Trek – Horizon, a feature-length independent film currently in production in southeast Michigan, launched their immensely successful Kickstarter campaign over Easter weekend, in an effort to raise funds necessary for completion of their film. In just 32 hours, the campaign earned an impressive $10,000 toward making the ambitious project a reality. The Kickstarter campaign runs through May 19, while the completed film is expected to premiere by the end of 2014.

Starring Paul Lang (Captain Harrison Hawke), Marc Bowers (Commander Jackson Gates),Ryan Webber (Commander Francis Brookes), and Callie Bussell (Lieutenant T’mar), Horizonfollows Captain Harrison Hawke and the crew of the Earth vessel NX-04 Discovery. In 2160, the Coalition of Planets, a young alliance of worlds led by Earth, is at war with the Romulan Empire. Desperate for a chance to gain the upper hand in the war, the Coalition forms an alliance with T’mar, a Romulan defector, in the hope that she can provide valuable intelligence on her former masters.

From the film’s Kickstarter page: “It is our goal to create a film that is worthy of the franchise and can close out the story threads left hanging after the untimely cancellation of Enterprise (the final Trek TV series) in 2005. However, if you have not seen any of the previous franchise films or TV series, this close tie to Enterprise is not cause to worry. While this film will close out story threads that began in that series, it will also certainly tell an original story and be able to stand alone as a science fiction feature film.”

Filmmaker Tommy Kraft, the prodigious 22-year-old Albion College graduate behind Horizon, hails from Spring Arbor, a small town just southwest of Jackson, Michigan. He founded Project [N] ReSource, a production company behind numerous short films, in 2005. Kraft cut his filmmaking teeth on those short films, he says, and they prepared him for the challenges of making his first independent feature. With Horizon, he has taken on a subject grand in its scope and execution, yet extremely close to his heart. Of the project, Kraft says he intends “only to use my skills to show my love for a franchise that has been an endless source of inspiration for me, not only professionally but personally as well.”

About Project [N] ReSource:
Project [N] ReSource was co-founded in late December of 2005 by Tommy Kraft. Currently based in Jackson, Michigan, the company focuses on the production of live action films and some machinima.

Indie Filmmaking duo tries to bring the Old West to South London….

Gary Scullion & Nick Acott better known online as The Sneaky Zebra who’s parody and viral videos have been seen on the likes of CBS, TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Entertainment Weekly and Slashfilm to name a few. But their next project is aiming to be a little more epic, a webseries with a taste of the Old West.

What is “The Good, The Bad &TheUndead” all about?

A drifter who stumbles upon the silver mining town of Romero, finds himself thrown into a situation even the most hardened warrior of the west has never faced. He must team up with the remaining survivors of the town to fend off the hordes of the undead and work together to escape the growing menace.

How are they getting this made?

The duo arecrowdfunding to get their pilot off the ground with the help of a site called IndieGoGo. The idea is simple, you can contribute to the film by donating small amounts such as £10 and for this you get a “Perk” ranging from a simple credit & special thanks to getting a walk on part in the final video.

So why Crowdfunding?

“It’s a fantastic way for our audience to be part of what we do, we’ve been on our YouTube channel for just over a year now creating a range of quick simple sketches to high end productions in less than 48 hours and we want to get as muchaudience involvement as possible!” Nick goes on to explain “Traditional funding is very hard to come by if you’re an unknown in the blockbuster film world, this gives us a chance to work with a bigger budget then we could get on our own and show the big dogs what we’re made of”.
