Confirmed Featured Creators for first-ever VidCon Europe in Amsterdam

The long-awaited VidCon Europe — with its Australian counterpart, VidCon Australia, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, September 9-10 — will welcome approximately 7,500 fans and creators, with a custom experience designed to celebrate the unique online video ecosystem of those regions.

VidCon programming and tickets follow a three-track format, designed to appeal to everyone from the most passionate fans to the biggest media companies. The Community Track engages attendees interested in experiencing the online video culture through Q&As, discussions, concerts, interviews, movie nights, meetups, signings, and games. This three-day celebration in Amsterdam will feature programming exclusive to the Industry track on Friday, shifting focus to Community and Creator activities and entertainment throughout Saturday and Sunday. Similar to the 8th Annual VidCon (in Anaheim, California, June 21-24), VidCon Europe will feature a variety of endemic and non-endemic sponsors and exhibitors. As veteran VidCon fans know well, these events are packed with robust content, performances, and high-energy celebration, and the VidCon team is determined to continue this tradition overseas. Attendees of the first-ever VidCon Europe in Amsterdam should expect an online-video celebration of global proportions.

Aurea Morrisey to star as Snow White in Happily Whatever After theatre production

Australian model and actress Aurea Morrisey has been bewitching audiences at Next Stage Theatre in Hollywood as Snow White in theatre production “Happily Whatever After”, a dark comical interpretation which would make the Brothers Grimm joyous. Aurea’s acting skills were polished at the New York Film Academy in 2013, leading to television roles in MSNBC’s “Heist”, VH1’s “Candidly Nicole”, and several feature films including Turkish film “Yarmani” with Paris Hilton and “So You Want To Be A Gangster?”.

Starting on 6th June, the BFI Southbank will begin to screen the entire surviving canon of his work to mark the 20th anniversary of his death. The catalogue of work is so vast that it will be screened in four parts, over two years, each focusing on a pertinent theme: ‘Politics and Betrayal’, in June, followed by ‘The Outsider Inside’ in July, then ‘Faith and Redemption’ and ‘Sex & Death’ in June and July 2015.

There will also be a number of events including a talk on 26th June by playwright Mark Ravenhill, who will offer his own personal response to Potter following the documentary:Close Up: Dennis Potter: Under the Skin (BBC, 1998). The screenings of Potter’s films will include For Paper Roses (ITV, 1971), in which Potter drew on his experiences as a Fleet Street journalist, and Lay Down Your Arms (ITV, 1980), in which a Private recruited for British Intelligence battles with the Establishment. July’s films will include Pennies from Heaven (the complete series, BBC, 1978), a totally original, innovative and unique form of television drama and Lipstick on Your Collar (the complete series, Channel 4, 1993), as well rarely seen plays such as Angels Are So Few (BBC, 1970), Only Make Believe (BBC, 1973) and Brimstone and Treacle (BBC, 1976).

SES and Eurovision Ink Multi-Year Capacity Expansion Deal

SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) has announced a multi-year capacity deal with Eurovision, the leading distributor of premium sports and news events and department of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The deal will provide live transmission of international sporting events originating in, or broadcast to, North America, Latin America and Europe.

Eurovision, a longstanding SES customer, is increasing capacity to 54 MHz and using the SES teleport and the NSS-806 satellite to broadcast sporting events to TV audiences across Latin America.

The capacity will be utilised for the contribution and distribution of major 2013-2014 sporting events in high-definition (HD) such as Tour de France, Formula One, European and Latin American Football, including 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. This will enable sports fans in three continents to watch all races and matches live.

NSS-806’s tailored, high-powered hemispheric beam provides simultaneous coverage of both Europe and the Americas, with virtually complete coverage of North, Central and South America, ensuring the maximum reach throughout Spanish and Portuguese-speaking markets. The satellite has a line-up of over 270 channels and reaches almost 19 million homes across Latin America.

Eurovision’s Head of Procurement, Paolo Pusterla said: “Eurovision has more than 60 years’ experience in delivering premium live content in a seamless, reliable and cost-effective way. We are delighted to extend our relationship with SES to allow us to provide our broadcast customers with the high-quality and flexible service they demand.”

Pusterla continued: “The prime orbital location of NSS-806, with its comprehensive coverage over Latin America and Western Europe, is an ideal fit when it comes to broadcasting international sporting events in both SD and HD to enthusiastic sport fans in the region. National Trust To Debut New Wallace & Gromit Animation Over Jubilee Weekend

The National Trust has launched a campaign teaming up with national treasures Wallace and Gromit to help lead the country’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

A weekend of over 70 Jubilee tea parties will be held across the country where the loveable duo’s new mini animation will be shown for the first time ever at Trust places. The funny flick has been specially created for the festivities as part of the National Trust Summer of Celebration campaign and shows the pair preparing for the big weekend, by scaling the ladders to hoist the bunting up around a magnificent Trust manor.

The green grass carpet will be rolled out for the mini animation (titled ‘A Jubilee Bunt-a-thon’) and a behind-the-scenes documentary, which are to be exclusively screened at the Trust’s Jubilee parties. Their films have already been met with the royal seal of approval from Camilla declaring that Wallace and Gromit are Prince Charles’ “favourite people in the world”.

The one-minute animation begins in the familiar setting of 62 West Wallaby Street with the ever faithful and long suffering Gromit sitting at his sewing machine making miles of bunting to adorn National Trust places across the country.

Tony Berry, Visitor Experience Director of the National Trust, commented: “The National Trust and Wallace and Gromit are two of Britain’s greatest treasures and we felt it fitting that in this summer of celebration we should bring them together. Screenwise Consistently Producing Success Stories In Its Acting Graduates

With a focus on the particular skills and knowledge required for screen acting, Screenwise is consistently producing success stories within both local and international film and TV industries.

Having already appeared in the TV adaptation of Tim Winton’s Cloudstreet as well as Rescue Special Ops, Screenwise graduate Todd Lasance is gracing our screens again in ABC’s salacious new series Crownies. Todd Lasance has garnered much praise for his work of late, and was nominated this year for the IF Out of the Box Award.

This year Screenwise has seen further local success in Valentino del Toro. The former student and current tutor at Screenwise has recently appeared in the acclaimed miniseries The Slap, currently airing on the ABC.

Screenwise graduates are also proving popular amongst international directors and casting agents. Our very own Isabel Lucas will grace the silver screen alongside Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and Stephen Dorff, playing the goddess Athena in the big screen blockbuster Immortals this month. KISS Star Gene Simmons’ Therapist On His Issues: ‘Do I Have To Pick Just One?’

Dr. Ann Wexler is a Beverly Hills-based psychologist specializing in couples therapy. She is currently appearing on Gene Simmons Family Jewels, where she has been helping the KISS star and his longtime partner Shannon Tweed sort through their relationship troubles. In a new interview with Examiner.com, when asked to identify Simmons’ primary therapy issue Wexler quipped, “Wow. Do I have to pick just one?”

On a more serious note she said, “When I very first met him, I thought, ‘Wow, we really need to break through this rock star persona, this TV persona. We have to break through this and I need to find out who he really is. I need to get to who he really is for us to do real work.’ And it turned out that he really did let me in, but I didn’t know if he was going to.”

Dr. Wexler said that Simmons’ public displays of cockiness are actually a front to cover up insecurities that stem from his father abandoning him when he was a child. “I believe that insecurity has stayed with him his whole life,” she stated. “Even though he’s been so hugely successful, and he’s so talented, he still has this feeling deep inside of having to prove that he’s the man. And I think that’s why he sometimes comes off with an overblown self-confidence.”

The show’s season finale airs Tuesday night, and previews show Simmons finally proposing to Tweed after 28 years of being, as he terms it, “happily unmarried.” Wexler said that despite the hard work she’s done with the couple, the decision whether to stay together or go their separate ways has to come from them. “I don’t have an agenda as a psychologist. It’s not my place to determine whether a couple should stay together or be apart,” she observed. “I work with the couple based on what they each express, what they each need and want, both as individuals and as a couple. “
