In 1993 Tupac Shakur was shot in a robbery and what some feel to be an attempted murder by rivals Sean “Puffy” Combs a.k.a. P. Diddy and others affiliated with Bad Boy Records. Although the robbers stole $35,000 of diamond and gold jewelry, they left Tupac’s diamond-encrusted gold Rolex Day Date Presidential. Some feel this was out of respect for a man’s watch. Lua Hadar moves from stage to cabaret to jazz club with effervescent ease. A native New Yorker, from a musical family, Lua Hadar has performed as an actor and singer all her life. Her love for The Great American Songbook, begun in her New York childhood, mixes with her passion for world cultures, so jazz club and concert audiences enjoy an eclectic mix of grooves and languages, from the familiar to the exotic, but always with Lua’s fresh twist.

One day, when one of those listeners turned out to be hit songwriter Gary Wright’s son, Justin, everything changed quickly. Justin Wright, who had already placed one of his own rock songs in the Top 40, cleared his schedule in order to bring, “We Are The Heart Of America,” into full expression as an electric rock song. After the production received enthusiastic thumbs up from Gary Wright and music industry moguls in Nashville and Hollywood, attention was turned toward distribution. Carlton Schreiner is the composer and producer of the ”Love Is The Cure” CD as well as ”We Are The Heart Of America”. Cliff deMarks, 1/2 of Atlanta’s Showtyme Jazz Duo, announced the release of his latest CD, Golden,  this past week during the Aspen Art Show in Aspen, Colorado.

With this release, he ventures into the Latin side of the smooth jazz genre.

When he was asked to describe the new CD, he said “Latin purists might not find it to their liking, but for lovers of smooth, it’ll be just spicy enough.”

Cliff is a very prolific jazz artist. Along with his wife Sei, he has released over 40 CD’s under their indie label, deMarks Music. He laughingly describes himself as a “cottage industry music label.”

He told us he felt some urgency to get Golden released cause he’d been working on it for over a year and needed to let it go, so that he could now concentrate on his new smooth jazz CD, “Do You Play?” He said he will be finishing up Do You Play? as soon as he can free up some time to get into the studio.

According to Cliff, Golden has been well-received and is selling well. He said he anticipates that this CD will fill a niche for the boutiques, gift shops and hospital gift shops that resell his music. He said it appeals to the same fans who love his smooth jazz.
