San Diego DJ Staci to Perform at Social Media Marketing World

San Diego, CA, 2017-Feb-09 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — For the second year in a row, San Diego DJ Staci Nichols will be performing at the world’s largest social media conference, Social Media Marketing World. The conference is held annually at the San Diego Convention Center. This year’s event will be from March 22-24, 2017, and, as always, feature the “rock stars” of the social media arena from New York Times best-selling authors to rising superstars.

Like last year, DJ Staci will perform on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Midway during the conference’s opening night party. A new change for 2017 will be Staci spinning before and after each of the keynote sessions. The conference, known as #SMMW17, has both a morning and evening keynote. Attendees have two opportunities each day to catch a live set from one of San Diego’s finest corporate event DJs.

Last year, there were attendees from over 50 countries at the mega-conference. DJ Staci said, “I tried to plan very diverse sets knowing that I was performing in front of people from all over the world.” Her job was to create a “night life” atmosphere for the opening night party and to give people some “wake up” energy during her daytime performances.

The conference can be super intense with so many industry celebrities in the midst. Phil Mershon of Social Media Examiner, one of the conference’s producers, felt the addition of live DJ performances would provide great entertainment as well as give attendees a mental break from the voracious note-taking that happens during the sessions.

“I can’t wait,” says DJ Staci. “Last year was an amazing experience…not just performing for such a broad audience but also getting to attend the conference. It changed the entire direction of my business!” To learn more about San Diego DJ Staci, visit. To learn more about Social Media Marketing World (tickets still available), visit.

Norwegian rock legend Gudny Aspaas to launch her new album in Oslo on April 5 at the Rockefeller Music Hall

OSLO, Norway, 07-Jan-2017 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — Tickets for the concert are now on sale, and can be ordered through www.gudnyaspaas.com which also features samples from “No Stranger”. The concert will also feature tracks from Gudny’s back catalog.

“The concert and album are the culmination of several months of work – and I’m thrilled with how “No Stranger” has turned out,” said Gudny. “I was lucky to work with some incredibly talented musicians and a wonderful team, and the result is, I think, the best work I’ve ever produced. I’m really looking forward to being back on stage, and I can’t wait for people to hear the new album in April.”

“No Stranger” is representative of the eclecticism of Gudny’s extensive career in music, with all of her – and her musicians’ – many talents represented in tracks such as the vocally complex “Galactic Child” (which allows her to show off her distinctive voice) through the eloquent piano/vocal piece “Hello Again” to the classic rock ‘n’ roll of “You Can Run”. From haunting simplicity to wall of sound, “No Stranger” fully demonstrates the breadth and depth of Gudny’s musical genius and her pioneering versatility as a composer and performer.

Gudny represented Norway four times in the Eurovision Song Contest, and fronted iconic progressive rock group Ruphus in the 1970s, returning for a reunion in the 1990s and again in 2010 – also at the Rockefeller Music Hall. Ruphus’s “New Born Day” was voted as one of the top 50 best Norwegian albums ever made. She has also released numerous solo singles and albums.

Originally from Meråker but now living in Oslo, Gudny comes from a musical family in which almost every member could play an instrument. Singing shyly for her family from the age of four, she and three friends formed “The Singing Goats” at the age of 12, supporting their vocals with guitars and tambourine. Having won a music competition, she released her first single in 1969.

Gudny is also a supremely talented creative artist, working mainly in silver jewellery. She graduated from the Statens Kunst og Håndverksskole (State Academy of Craft and Art Industry) and now has her “Silverland” gallery/workshop in the centre of Oslo near the Slottsparken.

With an inspiration that blended romance and femininity, Gionni Straccia Spring 2017 set the stage for exclusive designs that revealed the richness of a flower – expressing the sweetness and tenderness that flow from it- but highlighting a touch of excitement for the subtle, elegant and tasteful woman.

More than 300 guests were entertained while fabulous models, that included one Miss Universe, showcased the new clothing collection dominated by the use of two Straccia’s favorites: crepes silk and laces. Also, Italian tulle and organza embellished exquisite dresses, most of them with artistic embroidered and hand-painted flowers. Keeping with the trending cape dress, the designer offered a complete collection of stunning short cocktail dresses, pants suits, and evening gowns, that came in white, black, red, pink, and navy colors. Responding to a woman’s dressing needs for the different occasions in her life, Straccia added to the collection an astonishing wedding dress that left attending crowd impressed by the beauty and elegance of this piece.

Known for elegance and made-to-measure inimitable styles among the most important beauty pageants, Straccia is starting a new stage in his successful career; most importantly, with the recent opening of his private atelier in the United States. The Italian-Venezuelan designer is excited with the accomplishment of his very first full collection, “I am really very happy with the outcome. I wanted to express women’s romanticism, femininity and their sweetness,” said Straccia,“and I tried to rescue a technique of hand-painted flowers, to be in tune with the latest fashion trends, but highlighting the indelible Gionni Straccia stamp”.

The WIZO Florida, “Sponsor-a-Child” event included a bazaar with an exclusive diverse group of exhibitors that showcased beautiful pieces in jewelry, decorative items, clothing and many other accessories. As part of its annual gathering, WIZO Florida honored one of its members with a ‘Mother of the Year’ award. This time the privilege went to Colombian native, Margie Szerer, for exemplifying a WIZO woman, dedicated to her family, committed to Israel and a true leader for WIZO Florida.

“We are very proud to have presented renowned designer Gionni Straccia’s spring 2017 Collection at our ‘Mother’s Day Sponsor a Child’ fundraising event” said Suzanne Berkovits Harper, Director of WIZO Florida. “This event has grown each year and has become an icon in our community and one of the premier Mother’s Day events in South Florida, honoring and remembering mothers while benefiting women and children in need in Israel.”

Recognized fashion executive, Beth Sobol, produced the event.

Denon MCX8000 is Coming to DJkit, Will Debut at NAMM 2016

Newbury, Berkshire, UK, January 15, 2016 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — Top DJ hardware seller will be offering new DJ player and controller in stores soon

denon-mcx8000-main

Denon is playing it coy for the meantime, but its latest product, the MCX8000, will be making its way to DJkit shelves very soon. The company has confirmed, however, that the device is a standalone DJ player and controller, meaning one that wouldn’t require any computer working alongside it.

Denon has promised more information on the MCX8000 at the 2016 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, which takes place from 21 January through 24 January, 2016. It’s going to be an exciting event, for sure, and DJkit will be there; till then, anticipation should be heating up ahead of the device’s official release.

No Computer Needed – A Purely Standalone Device for Serato DJ

The Denon MCX8000 is a DJ player and controller that can be used as a standalone device for Serato DJ. For those who are unfamiliar, Serato DJ is a software suite from New Zealand-based company Serato that, according to the company, “delivers all the features and performance to meet the demands of DJs at the top of their game.” It also supports a wide range of hardware devices, including Denon’s previous MCX6000 release, but the new MCX8000 will do the same, working with the latest version of Serato DJ, but with a key difference.

That key difference is that you can use the Denon MCX8000 without any computer, and that should mean instant convenience for professional DJs using the device. Ever dreamed of carrying less gear for your DJ-ing job and not having to lug all that stuff (or drive with it in the back seats) from one club to another? The MCX8000 should help you with that.

Basic Features of the Denon MCX8000

At this point, Denon has preferred to stay mum about the MCX8000’s features until it debuts at Hall A of the Anaheim Convention Center as part of the 2016 NAMM Show. Aside from its being a standalone controller and player for Serato DJ, the MC X8000 boasts of a similar design to the Numark NS7 III and Numark NV, and comes with two large screens and eight performance pads. Based on the press photos, the device comes with four XLR outputs and what appear to be multiple USB ports.

Pricing and availability details have not yet been announced, but DJkit promises to deliver that information the moment Denon confirms the details at NAMM 2016.

LondonTown.com: London landscapes celebrated in new exhibition

South London parks are the subject of new photographic exhibition at the Horniman Museum.

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMNT NEWS/ — A new photographic exhibition celebrating London’s lesser-known landscapes open this month at one of London’s friendliest museums. South London Landscapes is now open at the Horniman Museum And Gallery this week and runs throughout the summer, featuring photographs of the Horniman itself as well as other picturesque public spaces in and around south London. The Horniman is one of London’s liveliest small museums, boasting excellent natural history and music galleries, a small aquarium and extensive landscaped grounds. For more information, and to see the latest deals on London hotels, see LondonTown.com.

South London Landscapes features photographs taken by London-based landscape photographer Max A Rush. The photographs, which include pictures of the Horniman Gardens, are taken in unusual and beautiful weather and capture how the passage of the seasons and the forces of the weather transform the appearance and character of the local landscape. Areas featured in South London Landscapes include Brockwell Park, Crystal Palace Park, Dulwich Park, Dulwich Wood, Ruskin Park and the Horniman Gardens.

Max Rush says: ‘These are a few of my favourite locations around south London. I’ve continually returned to them over the years, watching the seasons pass and the elements batter, freeze and occasionally warm their well-worn faces. I’ve witnessed moments of transcendental beauty in familiar places and endeavoured to capture them as truthfully as I can. So many people fight their way out of the city every week for the sake of nature, but perhaps what they’re looking for was here all along.’ For more information on this and other exhibitions and events taking place at the Horniman this summer, see LondonTown.com.

LondonTown.com: Groundbreaking London exhibition looks at post-war Black British artists

Guildhall Art Gallery explores the work of little-known but pivotal Afro-Caribbean artists

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — A groundbreaking new exhibition at the Guildhall Art Gallery in the City of London will look at the little-known and rarely exhibited history of 20th-century Black British art. No Colour Bar: Black British Art in Action 1960-1990 runs from 10 July 2015 to 24 January 2016, and will explore the history of art produced by Britain’s Afro-Caribbean citizens, reflecting their experiences in the country after the major emigrations that occurred following the end of the Empire at the conclusion of the Second World War. For more information on this and other exhibitions in London this summer, see LondonTown.com, where you can also find information on London events and cheap London hotels.

At the heart of the exhibition will be a recreation of the Bogle-L’Ouverture Walter Rodney bookshop, created by renowned artist and curator Dr Michael McMillan (West Indian Front Room) and sound and visual specialists, Dubmorphology. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a stunning multi-sensory, multi-visual experience including works of art, sculpture, photographs, paintings, letters and other artefacts from more than 25 prominent Black artists during this period including Eddie Chambers, Sonia Boyce, Denzil Forrester and Chila Kumari Burman.

Influenced by the emergence of newly independent African and Caribbean states, global liberation struggles, the fight against unfair discrimination and an insistence on dignified citizenship within Britain, these artists found expression by way of ‘creation for liberation’. The exhibition will explore these struggles and celebrate their contribution through four themes: ‘Elbow Room’, ‘Broad Shoulders’, ‘Clenched Fists’ and ‘Open Arms’.

Throughout its tenure, No Colour Bar: Black British Art in Action 1960-1990 will also play host to a series of scheduled events enriching the visitor experience through a diverse range of educational talks, workshops and gallery tours. LondonTown.com: Cutting-edge US artist receives first major European show in London this summer

Raven Row gallery in Spitalfields hosts a retrospective of ground-breaking US artist Larry Johnson.

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — One of America’s most interesting contemporary artists is to receive his first major European exhibition at a new gallery that focuses on cutting-edge, avant-garde art. Raven Row is a non-profit contemporary art exhibition centre in Spitalfields that is housed within two eighteenth-century merchants’ houses integrated with new galleries and its next exhibition, Larry Johnson: On Location runs from 11 June to 9 August 2015. It is directed and funded by Alex Sainsbury of the Sainsbury family, whose family have funded many great art projects in London, such as the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery. Raven Row is a very different enterprise, offering thoughtful shows on lesser-known artists and allowing visitors to explore the fascinating quarter of Spitalfields. The area is filled with fashionable boutiques, great shops and cool bars and restaurants. To explore its attractions, see LondonTown.com, where you can also find the latest room rates for hotels in London.

On Location brings together a selection of works by Larry Johnson from the early 1990s to the present. The show’s uncontested star is Los Angeles, the city in which Johnson has lived and worked all his life. For over thirty years, LA’s physical and imaginary appearance has served as the set for the artist’s photo-based investigations of the glamour industry, replete with fading stars and premature deaths. Johnson’s work bears the marks of a generation of artists sampling readymade images and texts to create seductively laconic pictures. Yet the colourful sheen of Johnson’s photo-based works is also a foil for sexual, political and semantic tension. The artist’s pictures are encryptions of a Hollywood demi-monde, referring to the cultures from which his work emerges queer, political, filmic and theoretical.

The exhibition is curated by Los Angeles-based writer Bruce Hainley, and by Antony Hudek, Curator and Deputy Director of Raven Row. Commie Pinko Guy, a publication edited by Hainley with new essays by Morgan Fisher, Lisa Lapinski, Hainley, Hudek and Wayne Koestenbaum, as well as reprints of classic underground queer writing, will accompany the exhibition. For more information on this and other exhibitions in London’s cutting-edge contemporary art scene, see LondonTown.com.

LondonTown.com: Classic London cinema at the Southbank all summer

BFI Southbank unveils new season dedicated to films exploring the UK capital.

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — London On Film is a new major season of films at the BFI Southbank that will explore and celebrate the capital for four months from 1st July to 9th October. This is the first time the BFI has ever celebrated the city in which it is based, and will feature 200 films, a number of which have been unseen since they were first filmed, offering an extraordinary perspective of the city from the past 120 years. The BFI Southbank is the national home of cinema, featuring three state-of-the-art screens in Waterloo on the Southbank. For more on this vital cultural quarter, as well as the latest rates for London hotels, see LondonTown.com.

The London On Film season will include events such as a Soho Weekender (24-26 July) to celebrate the unique culture of Soho captured in films from 1896 – 1985 such as West End Jungle (1961), The Small World of Sammy Lee(1963) and Sunshine in Soho (1956). There will also be a discussion event Vanishing Soho on the state of Soho today in the light of current major changes for those who live and play there. It will include some of the earliest films ever made, such as RW Paul’s Blackfriars Bridge (1896(. Films from major filmmakers include Anthony Asquith’s evocative Underground (1928), the first feature to be shot on the underground and Nicolas Roeg’s Performance (1970), which takes us into the dangerous realms of psychedelic and sexual experimentation. There will also be films by Alfred Hitchcock, Michael Winterbottom and Otto Preminger.

Black experience is highlighted in a series of key films including Earl Cameron’s pioneering role as a black sailor in the crime drama Pool of London (1951) with fine use of locations around Tower Bridge, Poplar, Southwark and the City; Cameron also stars in the little seen The Heart Within (1957) another crime thriller set in London’s Docklands. Sapphire (Basil Dearden, 1959) is a film-maker’s response to the Notting Hill race riots wrapped up in a murder mystery while Babylon (Franco Rosso, 1981) shows the demoralisation of black youth, and offers an eerily prescient portrait of the situation in Deptford which would give rise to the Brixton Riots of the same year. LondonTown.com: British Museum gets its medals out for the great French Sun King

Free exhibition at the museum showcases remarkable 17th-century emblems of Louis XIV’s reign

LONDON, June 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — The British Museum is holding a new exhibition that looks at the medals drawn from the reign of the great French Sun King, Louis XIV. Triumph and disaster: medals of the Sun King runs from 4 June to 15 November and marks the tercentenary year of the death of Louis XIV. It is one of several free exhibitions that are held at the British Museum every year to draw attention to the many easily overlooked marvels within its collection and to present them in new ways to mark anniversaries or to reinterpret the material. For more information on the full programme of exhibitions at the British Museum, see LondonTown.com, where you can also find the latest information on cheap hotels in London.

The Louis XIV medals are preserved as they were in Louis XIV’s own day and includes contributions from the British Library which has a unique manuscript scrapbook of drawings and notes on the creation of the history, and the V&A. The medals were a way for the king to portray his reign and the greatest writers (including Jean Racine), historians, artists and medalists of the day were brought together by the king to ensure that posterity would see his rule as Louis wished it to be seen: the reign of an ideal and ever victorious monarch.

The early medals portray a dazzling image of a ‘Sun King,’ who is represented as hard-working, accessible, generous and just; a king that worked for the benefit of the people, glorifying as much in their happiness as in victory over his enemies. The picture changed as war succeeded war and defeat succeeded victory. The later medals, though careful to represent only French successes, are so numerous that they give the impression not of victory but of endless and draining warfare.

Elsewhere in Europe, particularly in the Netherlands, medals were produced that mocked and satirized the official French medals. These rival medals showed the French sun eclipsed by the zodiacal signs of his enemies, and Louis as an old man being roundly beaten by Queen Anne. Collectively, these medals and attendant literature present a fascinating and unique self-portrait of a regime which dominated Europe for nearly sixty years, and which established the primacy of French taste and French culture for over a century.

The Tate Modern is one of the world’s leading contemporary art galleries, and its extensive programme of events includes a summer film season that introduces new art film as well as rarely-seen work by inspiring and maverick filmmakers. Spanning four screenings over three days, this will be the UK’s first major survey of maverick filmmaker Parviz Kimiavi, a pioneer of alternative cinema in 1970’s Iran. On 26 June, A Night at the Pictures: An evening for Larry Johnson will honour the legacy of artist Larry Johnson. Curator Bruce Hainley and writer Wayne Koestenbaum will discuss his work, followed by a specially selected cult film. On 8 July, Mathieu Kleyebe Abonnenc’s new film will be screened. This addresses political issues alongside scientific and anthropological histories. Drawing on a personal photographic archive, the film presents a young fictional researcher who leads a group between the IFAN Museum in Dakar and the Musée de l’Homme in Paris. The screening will be introduced by a live concert by the electronic music act PAL. Finally, over three days from 10-12 June, The Film Will Always Be You: South African Artists on Screen will explore the film work of key artists in South Africa. It begins with a rare showing of William Kentridge and Angus Gibson’s Freedom Square and Back of the Moon 1986 (part of the Johannesburg Free Filmmakers’ Co-Operative) and ends with the UK premiere of Robin Rhode’s Recycled Matter 2015. A Bold Move: 79-year old champion bodybuilder competes against 40-, 50-, 60-year olds!

Amador County, CA, May 08, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — A career spanning nearly 50 years isn’t over yet for Amador County veteran bodybuilder and one of the original Mr. Venice Beach competitors, Arthur Peacock. Peacock, who is turning 80 this year, takes the stage with 40-, 50-, and 60-year olds this Saturday, May 9 at the Contra Costa Bodybuilding Championship, to be held in the Chabot College Performing Arts Theatre.

“There is no doubt that this is a career turning point for me. It’s what I’ve been training for my entire life, but especially the last three years. I’ll have 60-seconds to prove myself—my physique and my poses—with competitors between 40 and 69. That’s potentially almost 40 years younger than me.”

Peacock chose to compete in three classes for a couple of reasons—no 70s bracket existed, and he has every intention of continuing his legacy to inspire others who want to follow their bodybuilding dreams.

“I want people to see me and say, ‘I can do that. Look at that guy up there at 80.’ I want to inspire to the end; I’ve done it all my life. I’ve had world champions come up to me and say, ‘I remember when you stopped and spoke to me as a teenager, and now, 20 years later, I’m the number one guy. Thank you.’”

It was in 1965, as an already athletic young man in his early 30s, an avid swimmer, surfer cyclist, and hiker, that Peacock went as a spectator with his friends to his first bodybuilding competition. “I knew I wanted to do that—that I could do that.” And that he did, taking home his first trophy in the 1968 Mr. Venice Beach competition, which gave rise to a half-century career with more than 50 major titles earned.

LondonTown.com: New London museum located in notorious hospital

Bethlam Royal Hospital hosts new permanent Museum Of The Mind.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — One of the most notorious psychiatric hospitals in history – Bethlam Royal Hospital, which gave its name to the word ‘bedlam’ – will be opening a pioneering gallery and museum on its premises this month. The new displays will be filled with the personal stories – both historic and contemporary – of those who have experienced mental health difficulties and will explore the long, controversial and often misunderstood history of Bethlem, founded 1247 in central London. Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind opens on 19 February 2015. The Bethlam Royal Hospital has occupied various sites, including the building now used by the Imperial War Museum in Waterloo, and is now located in Beckenham, a short journey by train from the centre of London. To see other attractions in the area and learn how to get to Beckenham, as well as finding up-to-date information on hotels in London, see LondonTown.com.

The Bethlem Gallery and Museum of the Mind will occupy the hospital’s original 1930s administration building and celebrate the lives and achievements of those living with mental ill-health. Themed gallery spaces will explore the reasons why people arrive at Bethlem, aiming to inspire discussion, debate and reflection on mental health issues which are as relevant today as they were in the past. The museum will house significant art and historical artefacts, almost all of which will be on display for the first time, as well as works by current artists and hospital service users.

Among the highlights are paintings and drawings by Richard Dadd, Louis Wain and Jonathan Martin, each of whom was a former Bethlem or Maudsley Hospital patient; and the oldest objects in the collection, the imposing statues, ‘Raving and Melancholy Madness’ by Caius Gabriel Cibber (c1676) which originally stood above the gates of the 17th century ‘Bedlam’ at Moorfields. They will now take their place either side of the art deco staircase directly ahead of visitors entering the new museum. Notable paintings from the internationally renowned art collection include ‘The Maze’ by William Kurelek (1953), ‘Sketch of an idea for Crazy Jane’ by Richard Dadd (1855), ‘Numb’ by Lisa Biles (2009) and ‘Phrenology’ by Louis Wain (1911). Each of these will be on permanent display.

The exhibition will include striking images by Victorian photographer Henry Hering of Bethlem patients taken before and after treatment in order to detect their mental health conditions through facial expressions and features. The collection will also feature a key to the gates of the 18th century hospital, 19th century manacles, chains, straitjackets and other physical restraint devices, comments and letters from visitors from the 18th century up until today and 19th century admission and discharge registers.

LondonTown.com: London prepares for fairy tale exhibition

Leicester Square hosts exhibition of props and costumes from Disney’s Cinderella

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — Leicester Square will be sparkling this spring when it hosts a pop-up exhibition dedicated to displaying costumes and props from Disney’s new live action film of the classic fairy tale, Cinderella.Cinderella: The Exhibition opens on March 21 st at Leicester Square Gardens and will run until 10 th April. The exhibition will be free of charge, but tickets will be required for entry. The Cinderella exhibition will feature 22 remarkable costumes and hundreds of original props offering people the opportunity to celebrate the film’s British roots first hand. Filmed in the UK, costumes were made by renowned British costume designer, Oscar-winning Sandy Powell, and the film was directed by fellow Kenneth Branagh. Powell’s costumes, as worn by the all-star cast including Lily James (Cinderella), Helena Bonham Carter (the Fairy Godmother), Cate Blanchett (Lady Tremaine) and Richard Madden (the Prince) will be proudly on display for all to see, housed within the recreated sets.

The exhibition is presented by Swarovski who provided Sandy Powell with over 1.7 million crystals for the spellbinding costumes to bring added sparkle to Cinderella’s magical world. At the heart of the exhibition will be Cinderella’s iconic slipper. The dazzling slipper, which plays such a pivotal role in the fairy tale, was hewn from solid Swarovski crystal and features 221 facets in a light-reflecting Crystal Blue Aurora Borealis coating. Powell worked closely with Swarovski technicians at the headquarters of the crystal house in Austria to create the magnificent slipper. “I’m looking forward to people being able to see the behind the scenes magic that went into the creation of Cinderella,” says Branagh. “Sandy Powell has allowed unlimited access to her creative process from the initial sketches to the final creations, including the most iconic costume of all – Cinderella’s incredibly beautiful blue ball gown.”

LondonTown.com: Digital talk and avant-garde art at the ICA this summer

Two new events announced at the world’s leading multi-discipline avant-garde arts space.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /EPR ENTERTAINMENT NEWS/ — The Institute of Contemporary Arts, better known to Londoners as the ICA and renowned worldwide as one of the great avant-garde galleries, has announced two events that will take place at their Central London premises later this year. Fear of Missing Out: Summit Defining Influences of the Digital Age in 2015 (29th – 31st May 2015) is the title of a special symposium that will explore post-digital anxieties, while Isa Genzken: Basic Research Paintings is the title of an exhibition that will run from 30th June to 6th September in the ICA Upper Galleries. For more about other London events already announced at the ICA in 2015, see LondonTown.com, the website that also allows tourists and visitors to find the latest booking information for cheap London hotels.

Fear of Missing Out will be chaired by Berlin artist and theorist Hito Steyerl, bringing together leading international theorists, academics, social thinkers and artists to discuss post-digital anxieties and the social condition. It will examine the progression and trajectory of technological, economic, ecological and cultural advances by introducing speakers from diverse disciplines to present on topics from Artificial Intelligence to Cyberfeminism. Speakers confirmed include Karen Archey, Erika Balsom, Eleanor Saitta and McKenzie Wark and the summit will also include a screening of work by Harun Farocki. Additional speakers will be announced shortly.
Isa Genzken: Basic Research Paintings will feature the work of one of the most important and influential artists of the last forty years. Since the 1970s, Genzken has developed experimented with a variety of different materials and art forms, to include assemblage and photography, film and video. Her Basic Research paintings feature a frottage technique, similar to that deployed by surrealist artists in search of automatic forms of art production. Having applied a layer of paint to her canvas, she then placed the canvas face-down on her studio floor before rubbing the back with a squeegee. Having peeled the canvas away from the floor, the resulting print shows all the dirt and imperfections of her workspace in near photographic detail. The Basic Research paintings are compelling in that they invite scrutiny. For more information on these London events, plus other events and exhibitions taking place at the ICA, see LondonTown.com.
